Griffin Museum of Science and Industry
Part science museum, part time machine, the Museum of Science and Industry is housed within the Palace of Fine Arts: one of the last remaining structures from the 1893 World’s Fair. Today, the 14-acre building is filled with planes, trains, and people movers from the depths of the sea to outer space.
Limited-run exhibitions this summer at The Griffin include an immersive Spider-Man experience (through August 16), Broadway costumes from designer Paul Tazewell (through September 7), and a life-size recreation of the Anne Frank House in the Netherlands (through early 2027).
Author Talks at 57th Street Books & The Seminary Co-op
Hyde Park’s sister independent bookstores regularly host author talks, readings, and discussions featuring leading voices in literature, history, politics, science, and culture. Review the upcoming events calendar for a quintessential UChicago experience.
Frederick C. Robie House
Next door to Seminary Co-op, the Robie House is architect Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece and widely regarded as one of the most important examples of the Prairie-style movement. Open Thursday-Monday year-round, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust offers several guided tour experiences for exploring the 1910 home.
ISAC Museum
Blocks from The Study at the center of campus, UChicago’s Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures features 350,000 artifacts from the ancient cultures of West Asia and North Africa.
Through August 16, ISAC presents A Bestiary of Ancient Nubia, a special exhibition exploring the role of animals in Nubian life, art, religion, and trade from 3800 BCE through the medieval period. The exhibition offers a unique perspective on one of Africa's great ancient civilizations.
Summer Sports, Concerts & Gatherings
Catch soccer matches and headline concerts at Soldier Field or attend one of several major conventions and industry gatherings at McCormick Place—both just a short ride away from Hyde Park.
